Awful to know there are people who are scamming and using that kind of Statement for there cover head, BS!

So I was cleaning out email and ran across it, I was getting ready to put my info in and this little light bulb went off. I thought this maybe a Scam, so I Google and find this. DeleteI get this scam (Worded slightly differently) 4 to 10 times every single day (along with 40 to 200 others from simialr sites, ever since I answered a survey in 2009, over 200,000 to date. No anti virus seems to remove it. All the letters are directed at the USA market.

I'm still trying to figure out why this is considered to be a scam if the info that they say is provided is in fact being provided. I have two small children and am concerned because they say there is someone VERY close that I should be concerned about and I am more than willing to pay a dollar for that info.

ReplyDeletewhere i live, in my immediate neighborhood, via usps via the county, we get reular alerts that include a picture, height, weight, race, address, crime in detail, lenght of prison sentence release date and more. fyi if you just google the address minus the #7-228, it comes back to the ups store, mail, shipping and coping. they just have a mailbox there. google can even show you a map location as well as the actual street view of the property located at a small strip mall. total scam.

ReplyDeleteThe thing to do is NEVER use your real email if possible when online or filling forms out on the high street etc when you`re asked for an email address...there are lots of disposable email sites that you can just use for this type of thing...I still get some but not many dodgy or spam emails now...funny enough I emailed the government and started getting spam emails again...makes you realise just who is selling this stuff.

Hey there. I got this e-mail too and its SPAM/SCAM and who knows what else. PLEASE listen to "Anonymous October 3, 2013 at 9:19am" because by clicking any link, even one that says "unsubscribe" may allow malware, a Trojan, a virus, a Keylogger, etc etc to enter ur computer. Just don't even open the e-mail and delete it for good. I just looked at the sender and subject line and knew right off not to open the email. So I deleted it but wondered if anyone else got it. When I did the search, tons of complaints against this user filled up my screen. Also, whatever this really is, I don't know why they would send it to me. I'm a 17yo dude with no family. Just to be safe, I'm gunna run my internet safety and cleaning programs. BTW, I'm NOT saying that the links in the e-mail are actually dangerous. I'm just going on basic common sense and what I've learned in my computer science courses. I wish all spam would just go away. *lol*.

I would additionally note that the search engines had a hard time finding this site, I finally had to type in received email spam and the pubLic etc to get to here.

DeleteA legitimate company ues correct spelling and proper punctuation, which is vital to their reputation. Scammers and phishers do not care. I just got the email and about 10 red flags went up! I would assume they not only want your money, they want to know if you are a parent with CHILDREN, which is what they are truly after. If you give them any information, they will know where you and your CHILDREN live! Don't give these nefarious people ANYTHING.

ReplyDeleteThis information IS vital but you can get it free from your State. I am on the Indiana site and not only can I look up my area (or work or kids school and see the offenders within a certain radius) they email me if some moves near us.

This information is free, so I knew something was wrong when they asked for credit card info. I have a five year old daughter and we are moving to a new neighborhood in few weeks so I almost fell for this scam!!! Terrible, and they have a place you can post to FB glad I didn't do that

I received this in my normal email folder. Didn't know who they are and so I Googled the name which led me here. I was really worried as there are people who are sending actual child pornography through email. They may have a political agenda different than yours or be the police. The idea is to open the email, and once you do you can be considered as trafficking in this creepy stuff. Presumably what happens next is an anonymous tip goes to law enforcement that you are a pedophile. If anyone gets something like that, they should immediately notify authorities and delete any photos

I actually went to there site. Apparently there are over 200 pedophiles in my zip code alone. Even 3 or 4 within 2 miles of my own house. Sounds like BS scaremongering so you'll pay them money for their "services". I know a scam when I see one.

ReplyDeleteI just got one of these today. Of course when I hovered the mouse on top of the sender name, I got a garbled web address, so I knew something was fishy. Then I decided to do a search to make sure, and that's how I cam across this.
ReplyDeleteBut that's something you can do too with an e-mail, hover the mouse cursor over the subject name or the sender name and see what kind of address comes up, and if you see a bunch of symbols and stuff, then it's definitely a scam!

ReplyDeleteNow the spams are being sent by the spammer "Wise Choice Media" ("cooplabs"), along with all the Dr. Oz crap they spamvertise. One recent source IP for the spams was 124.70.38.223, in Red China, where they ignore spam reports. Cooplabs' sites have stupid disposable domain names like "selectevents.net," and are hosted on Hurricane Electric, which also ignores spam reports. Your state can provide free information about sex offenders; you don't need to buy it from anyone who uses spam for advertising.

ReplyDeleteIf you google "kids live safe" and go direct to the website this email is promoting it's one of those sign up for a subscription scams that are hard to cancel. So even if the email is legit the website is scammy.

I have read online to NEVER click UNSUBSCRIBE, it only makes it worse. This is probably true. I use to do it and SPAM definitely got worse, from the same ones I UNSUBSCRIBED.
Now I mark as JUNK (if it already is not in junk mail box) then delete without looking at it. I get fewer now.
And of course I always do a web search with the word 'scam' added.
Never click the link from the email.
I recently received that Child predator alert-E-Mail. I live in Germany and have no kids. It's illegal here to post names of offenders in the Internet. So I knew, it must be spam or fraud. It's really sick to scare parents on a way like that. Anyway, I was curious and clicked the link. Luckily the site didn't open.
ReplyDeleteDon't be duped by this garbage, it's a ploy to pilfer money from you by using scare tactics. A visit with the local police and various websites can provide more accurate details than this KidsLiveSafe crap does free of cost. I get a kick out of the addresses these messages come from. Why car dealerships, interior design companies, holiday gift guides, and investment organizations would be sending these is beside me. Makes me feel safe to know these businesses have such an interest in our young people's safety that they're looking into sexual offenders' locations for the public. KidsLiveSafe is a dirty business that deserves to be shut down.

Look up KidsLiveSafe address at 3905 State St. Suite 7-228 as listed in message. I see Peet's Coffee and Tea and Relax In the Back Santa Barbara, but no KidsLiveSafe. All the more reason to believe this junk.

KidsLiveSafe is a worthless site that'll cost much more than it's actually worth, not to mention all the more spam your address will be sent in for. While their intention is good on protecting kids, the subscribers are really the ones who aren't safe from all the hazards this site leaves you susceptible to.

DeleteAs I write this, there is a tab on my browser, that if clicked on will take you to an open email on my computer. It is from kids live safe and is a Sex Offender Search Engine. I opened it about five minuets ago and was cautiously reading the page. Then I saw an input window and they wanted me to use it to give them my email address. Hmmmm If they emailed this letter to me, why do they need my email address? surly they already have it right? Something about that just stunk like a skunk. So, I opened another tab to search google about them and found this page.

With that said, all you have to do is unsubscribe from the link on the email and you will stop receiving emails (it’s the law for Publishers to adhere to these rules). ReplyDeleteI haven't received any of these bogus notifications as of late, I wonder what happened? There for a while, I was getting several on a daily basis. Look closely at the messages and something looks fishy. Unless you're foolish enough to subscribe to this site, it's impossible for KLS to know if, as the emails say, offender activity is actually going on in the receiver's area. Furthermore, if this place's best interest was truly protecting our youth, there wouldn't be a subscription rate. It stays afloat by tricking people with mass hysteria.
ReplyDeleteI just got this scary email for the first time 8 JUL 2014. So rest easy, the scam is still alive. Mine linked to something called Kids Live Safe. I fed it a Taiwan zipcode [plus an email from 10-minute mail] and it generated what looked like dozens of hits, but they were all miles away. And the risk factor never finished loading. What a disappointment. I fed it a zip from Ohio and it did a lot better. Many hits right close by and HIGH risk factor. Tried a third zipcode from a sparsely settled section of Nevada. It got one hit, nine miles away. But it had trouble with the risk factor. Maybe the guy (or gal) has had trouble getting out lately. Anyway, all the best to him (or her). All the best to Kids Live Safe too. May they get everything they deserve.

The phone number is probably one where the caller is deliberately left on hold for long periods (in hopes they will hang up in frustration). And probably to a foreign call center (I notice the time-stamp on this and other posts you made show they were made during what is well past midnight in most of the United States).

What's that address where you're located? The 3905 State St. Suite 7-228 in SB? Funny when you look that up, there's no sign of KidsLiveSafe in the area, unless the coffee shops and Relax in the Back are where you're doing business out of. Like most all spam messages, if you actually look up the address often listed in the ads, there's usually no sign of the business being promoted. The "addresses" are merely deceptions to make the messages appear legitimate.
DeleteThis is a legitimate address guys. Need to do your research. Zoom in on Google map and view the site all around. There is a UPS office in the back and, low and behold, it is Unit #7. 228 is the KLS box number inside! There is even a UPS truck leaving the driveway in the street view!!!!! How cool is that? And I have never been there, I live over 600 miles away.
DeleteSure it pops up on the map and is heavily advertised, but where's the building? There is absolutely nothing that indicates this place exists, the address shows up in the middle of the street. What have we got here, an underground business? Instead of seeing a building, we see the KLS logo. Something fishy about anything involving KLS. How they turn up with high ratings on BBB is a mystery considering there's little proof besides a logo they're a legitimate business. All the area businesses appear onscreen, no sign of KLS. For something as severe as child molestation and rape, little appears that proves KLS' true intent is to "protect what matters most." I'd protect both my money and identity and put my faith in the police before I would a mysterious business like KLS.

We're an honest and legitimate organization, so it's perfectly okay to click on the links and give us info and let us install a virus on your computer."
It's a SCAM. As someone noted above, if you Google Map search their location, you can instantly see it's not even a real place. And I love that these morons have posted in this very thread several times of late and being the low IQ morons that they are, they couldn't even take the time -- in their cut & paste stupidity -- to fix their spelling errors or line breaks and other things, which is ALWAYS a clear sign of a scam artist at work.
People like this who would pray on innocent people to give them a virus deserve jail time. But even worse, people who would trick innocent people and concerned parents by using CHILDREN to trick people into a virus have a special place reserved for them in Hell one day.

DeleteI received the email so I checked the BBB and they are legit. They actually have good ratings. With that being said there is a buyer's beware I would like to give. As a parent of two the service of recieving alerts sounds enticing because this is not a part of what you can get through the government website. If this service is something you want to use READ THE FINE PRINT! The $1 charge is for an introductory 7 day period and then the fees go up. The only way you can stop the fees is to cancel the service.

From what I can see, subscribers are paying for an inferior police force. Say this horrible tragedy strikes our children, who can do more, KLS, or the police? I'd have to believe the police can benefit us more than what KLS can.

Anything advertising this group has a foul stench to it, especially when it's coming from addresses irrelevant to the brand. Sad to say I'm not sure there's any way to repel the spam from this, you certainly don't want to click the unsubscribe link, or you'll invite more. It's not sent from KLS directly, but their site is pretty much worthless within itself. Why pay a fee for unnecessary services and unreliable information?
